ARTHUR BUS GmbH, based in Munich, is a system manufacturer for innovative transportation solutions and a trailblazer for emission-free mobility. Founded in 2021, we have successfully designed, built, and delivered the ARTHUR ZERO – the most advanced hydrogen bus on the market – to customers, all within just 3 years. The city bus for public transport is characterized by its low consumption and long range.



By using sustainable materials and an innovative energy concept including optimized cell technology, we are setting new standards in environmental friendliness and efficiency. As a German bus manufacturer (OEM), ARTHUR BUS equips its hydrogen buses with state-of-the-art technology to meet the evolving needs of modern public transport. Beyond complying with all EU regulations, our vehicles also fulfill the advanced GSR2 requirements, setting new benchmarks for safety and performance.

We are part of three hydrogen alliances
at regional, national, and European levels.

The Hydrogen Alliance Bavaria is a networking, knowledge-sharing, and advocacy platform that now includes 371 hydrogen stakeholders from industry, science, and politics, all with a presence in Bavaria. The alliance is coordinated by the Hydrogen Center Bavaria (H2.B).

The German Hydrogen Association (DWV) is the umbrella organization for the hydrogen industry in Germany, founded in 1996. Its areas of focus include hydrogen production, infrastructure development, and applications in mobility and industry.

Hydrogen Europe is an umbrella organization representing the European hydrogen and fuel cell industry, research institutions, and national and regional associations.

From Vision to Reality

2020 – The Vision Takes Shape: 

Our story began in 2020 with Gerhard Mey’s vision to revolutionize public transport through innovative, sustainable solutions. To bring this vision to life, he assembled a team of young, dynamic talent. Through extensive market analysis, we identified opportunities, refined strategies, and built the foundation of ARTHUR BUS.

March 2021

The Founding of ARTHUR BUS

In March 2021, the time had come: ARTHUR BUS GmbH was officially founded. Just one month later, our team consisted of ten dedicated experts united by a shared passion for emission-free mobility.

From Blueprint to Reality

2021–2022

Within a year, we transformed the ARTHUR ZERO hydrogen bus from an initial concept into a fully built prototype. By April 2022, the first ARTHUR ZERO bus was ready for its European homologation, reflecting our dedication to innovation and quality. Achieving EU homologation solidified our place as a leader in zero-emission public transport.

2023

Gaining Momentum

To support hydrogen mobility further, we launched our first mobile hydrogen refueling station, combining zero-emission vehicles with practical infrastructure solutions, whilst also touring Europe with our flagship modell.
